EXE VALLEY RUN REPORT - 3RD OCTOBER 2004

This indeed WAS the Carlsberg of all our rides to date! Only 6 bikes turned up,
which was a bit of a let-down considering the alleged aspirations of many
to become fully paid-up members of the "usual suspects".

The previous day's rain dance by the Fat Controller delivered the goods
as the wet stuff came down just after we turned off Podimore for the twisties.
Frankly, there is nothing like 350+ miles of riding in challenging conditions.
The glorious A396 in the wet is indeed a must for advanced riding.
Chris on his silver Triumph ST lead the ride with a cracking pace
all the way to the Exeter Inn where we stopped for lunch.
John with silver 1150RS and Tim with red 1100S,
both long-standing "usual suspects" were joined by Frank with burgundy 1150R
and Steve with sunny yellow 1150GS and the Fat Controller took the tail.

Of course, one of the benefits of smaller numbers is that we all got served on time.
Folks, the mixed grill for £12.95 was monumental! After lunch, the Fat Controller
took the lead with John at the tail and despite the weather conditions the ride arrived
in Stockbridge at 4.45pm, well in time for tea and treacle tarts.
However on this instance, we decided to take a rain check and ride on home.

Well, I consider this our best pace ride to date,
arriving at Stockbridge at the time we did was a serious achievement.
Beating this one will take some doing! So, until the next time..........
