Wicked
Breakfast It was the wettest Sunday of the year but this did not
dampen the spirits of five of
the "usual suspects". Fortified with Little Chef coffee we donned
everything waterproof
that we owned - thank you Mr GoreTex - and splashed our way along the A272
to Winchester and Stockbridge, position compromised by a heavy and slippery
leaf fall. Who said that only the trains can have the wrong sort of leaves!
Panos literally conducted the ride, arms waving; the heavy downpour leaving
him with no indicators for the first part of the ride.
From Stockbridge the A30 took us swiftly to the meat of the ride through
Sherborne and then south on the A352 to Dorchester, a real treat in the
drying conditions. A hearty breakfast was had by all, with the Wicked Breakfast
claiming another victim in Chris (silver GS Adventure) who was thankful for the
extra suspension travel and the help of the writer and Colin in finishing the
task.
Chris, what can I say.... we've all been there and it takes practice!
With the afternoon sun on our backs we set off for the return trip to
Stockbridge via
the superb B3143 and B3091. All progressed smoothly until the Stockbridge
turn-off from the A30 where we lost one member of the group whose
observation skills were clearly compromised by the thought of the treacle
tart ahead. The traditional resfeshments were greatly enjoyed as we
patiently waited for the prodigal rider to return.
Special thanks to Panos (red S) for persevering despite indicator troubles
and Colin (black S) for patiently back marking despite radio troubles.
Simon (ivory 1200C) was without a doubt man of the match,
even though he forgot where the Stockbridge turn-off was!
