Love
Handles Make for a Great Ride |
![]() |
What can I say, it was an absolutely
fantastic day. Glorious sunshine,
nice and warm,
and the company wasn't bad either. The
Fat Controller brought along his love handles.
What a ride! I would definitely
recommend them to any pillion.
They truly are very comfortable to hang onto.
And so we set off from the Little Chef, approximately 14 bikes.
As per usual,
the riders got loads of town riding practice, as well as some eye catching
scenery for non riders. Surprisingly
the Fat Controller didn't get lost heading on to
Wroughton, unlike the previous two times.
Finally we
arrived at a very crowded Avebury pub. There
were loads of bikes,
be it dirt bikes, the old classics, and not forgetting the Gucci fashionable
Japanese bikes,
perfectly matched to their riders leathers.
Don't ask me to list makes and models,
I'm a woman, it's just not in my programming!
Fortunately we didn't have to wait the usual
40 minutes for lunch. The food was
great but we did hear someone moaning about
the vegetables on his plate, and heaven forbid, in his pie!
And so after much good food and association, we set off for Stockbridge.
Something for
pillions to remember, pay attention to the road and signs
so you can anticipate what the rider will do next.
The FC had to brake from 60 - 30 mph,
and as I wasn't paying much attention, slid right forward and gave him a beauty
of a head butt
(there was a fly on his helmet, yes, that was it!).
So he was slightly concussed.
Also, future tips for riders, if you wish to file down your rear pegs,
please don't do it while the pillion is on.
We like our toes where they are.
Finally we
reached Stockbridge, but whom should we happen to see upon our arrival?
One who opted to go cycling instead of biking.
One who shall remain nameless (Tim!!).
Absolutely shameful. After
much mocking, we sat down for civilised (bikers civilised?)
afternoon tea and treacle tarts with clotted cream.
Sadly there weren't enough treacle tarts to go round, so Dave sacrificed
his
for the good of the many. Bless
him. And on that happy note, we
parted ways.

(bloody pillion on sunny yellow 1150GS,
yes that's sunny like the fiery furnace of hell!)
PS Any volunteers to take me out on the next ride?
